Lailatul Qadar is a night that is more auspicious than a thousand months. The night of Maulatuna Fatema SA. The night that is "greater than a thousand months," as expressed by the Qur’an Majeed. Given this, we must cherish and utilize each and every moment in this night for ibaadat - that should be the sole focus from Maghrib until sunrise the following morning. Ibaadat encompasses namaaz, doa, wasila, munajaat, praying Quran-e-Majeed and tasbeeh.
We must also make our children recognize the importance of this night from an early age, which is why we make sure that our children also stay up the night and even if they cannot take part in all the namaaz, encourage them to do tasbeeh of Maa Fatema SA. We also encourage our children to do roza on the following day.
While determining what time to begin Isha Namaaz on Lailatul Qadar, it is important to keep in mind that Nisful-Layl must still be adaa after washeq namaaz, haazihis-salaat, washeq doa and wasila - which generally takes about 2.5 hours. If for some reason you are delayed in praying Isha, and after completing washeq namaaz and doa are concerned that Nisful Layl time will lapse if you listen to the wasila, then you should pray Istiftah and Nisful Layl Namaaz and doa and then listen to the wasila. In the list given below, there are certain elements that should not be missed while doing bandagee in Lailatul Qadar. These elements have been marked with a “” sign. Beyond these essential elements, Mumineen are encouraged to pray as many salaams as time permits (i.e. before the night ends). Make sure to pray Shafa’ at the very end as no namaaz can be prayed after Shafa’ Namaaz. The time for the other salaams and doas will vary depending on your speed of namaaz and doa. If you pray all the salaams below it should take you a total of 4-5 hours (including Isha, washeq and wasila).
Make sure to keep some time for sihori!
Audio of Bihori Doas
Audio recordings of niyyats and doas of Bihori Namaaz are published on the Bihori page - please refer to this page before going through the Lailatul Qadr Amal Details page. Also on this page, for some of the salaams a shorter doa than the one in the Bihori hafti was presented in case you are pressed for time.
Gaal Lotaawanu – haazihis salaat – 40 times on the right side and 40 times on the left side do the following tasbeeh (by doing this tasbeeh we are gifting this namaaz to Rasulullah SA and Maulatuna Fatema SA and beseeching their acceptance):
هذهِ الصلوة هدية مني اليك يا مولانا محمدُ واليكِ يا مولاتَنا فاطِمَة ، تقبَّلوها مِنِّي وضاعفوا لي بها الاضعافَ الجَزِيلَة
