Support and Prayers for Muslims in Suffering: Syedna’s Contribution & Short List of Supported Organisations

19 September 2014

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

As the Du’at before him – as stated in Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s qasida above – Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin has and continues to pray for Muslims and raise the Minarets of Islam through his actions and deeds. As Syedna Taher Saifuddin also states, to protect Islam is an obligation of every Muslim. At a time when millions of Muslims are suffering it is our obligation to support them.

Syedna TUS prays for the alleviation of the suffering of Muslims in areas of conflict. Syedna TUS also prays for peace and the wellbeing of Muslims and all of mankind.

In the wake of the ensuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Iraq, Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin TUS has contributed to the humanitarian organizations listed below. One organization focuses on urgent medical care for children in Gaza, another focuses on food aid (both in Gaza and Iraq), another focuses on creating long-term infrastructure (social, economic etc.) and the fourth is a Red Cross organization with a broad spectrum of activities. Based on Charity Navigator reviews and extensive research, these organizations exceed industry standards and outperform most charities in their efforts. All these organizations are also non-political and have tax exempt status in the US and other countries.

Syedna TUS has donated to all these charities and encourages all those who are able to contribute to the humanitarian effort.

Palestine Children’s Relief Fund: URGENT GAZA RELIEF

The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund is a registered non-political, non-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization that was established in 1991 to address the medical and humanitarian crisis facing Palestinian youths in the Middle East. It has been rated 4 stars by Charity Navigator and received an overall rating of 99.33/100; it is an exceptional rating that indicates that the organization exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its Cause. PCRF does not discriminate based on religion, gender, nationality or sect. In response to the Israeli bombardments going on in Gaza, the PCRF is responding to this ongoing crisis by identifying injured kids and providing them with the critical medical care that they need. With three offices and a field staff on the ground in Gaza, the PCRF has the team and experience to reach and provide every needy child with the care that they desperately need.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world's largest humanitarian organization, providing assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. The Red Crescent is used in place of the Red Cross in many Islamic countries. There is significant media coverage and documentation of the work they do and their effective response on the ground, especially in Gaza and Iraq. The IFRC's work focuses on four core areas: promoting humanitarian values, disaster response, disaster preparedness, and health and community care.

The World Food Programme

The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. WFP is part of the United Nations system and is voluntarily funded. In emergencies, they get food to where it is needed, saving the lives of victims of war, civil conflict and natural disasters. After the cause of an emergency has passed, they use food to help communities rebuild their shattered lives.

In Iraq, despite the challenging security situation and the fact that displaced populations are on the move, WFP has successfully distributed food to more than 438,000 people in 10 governorates. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced by the crisis that first hit Mosul in mid-June and spread to surrounding cities and governorates. In recent days, a rising number of Iraqis have found themselves stranded around Iraq’s Sinjar Mountains, fleeing violence. Since 4 August, WFP has set up four emergency kitchens in Dohuk and Lalish, enabling the food agency to assist more than 100,000 people who have fled the Sinjar area.
