“See you not that the ships sail through the sea by Allah’s grace, so that He may show you His signs?”

(Surat Luqman: Ayat 31)

Syedna Fakhruddin TUS recited the ayat above and explained that the fulk (ship) is the safinat-un-najat (ark of salvation), the true Dawat, which weathers the storms and tempests of heretic innovations and falsehood, safely delivering those in it to the shores of paradise.

Syedna TUS narrated the various stormy waves that struck the ship of Dawat throughout history; chief amongst them the wave of tyranny and oppression which befell the Ahl-e-Bayt of Rasulullah SA in Karbala. He narrated with deep sorrow and fervor the heartbreaking calamities faced by the haram of Rasulullah SA led by Imam Zainul Abideen AS on their journey back to Medina from Karbala.

Syedna TUS recounted the ikhlaas (sincerity) and sabr (forbearance) of Syedna Mu’ayyad al-Shirazi during the trials he faced in his eminent life, and how the blessings of his knowledge were conveyed to the Duat Mutlaqeen.

Syedna TUS counseled Mumineen based on the bayan of the Ikhwanus Safa: “the body is akin to a ship, and the soul is akin to its captain.” Syedna narrated the importance of self discipline, and focussing on the Hereafter rather than solely running after worldly desires, by narrating the parable of the man and the fish from the Ikhwanus Safa.

Syedna TUS ended his wisdom-filled waaz with a heart rending account of the shahadat of Imam Husain AS, as Mumineen cried tears of sorrow.
