Lailatul Qadar: Syedna Qutbuddin Munajaat & Risaalat

25 September 2014

'We revealed it (the Quran) in Lailatul Qadr, do you know what is Lailatul Qadr, Lailatul Qadr is more precious than a thousand months.'

(Surat al-Qadr: 1-3)

This article was written by Ra'sul Hududil Mayameen Janab Syedi Aziz Bhaisaheb Qutbuddin in 2014.

Following the tradition of the 51st and 52nd Dais Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA and Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA, their successor, the 53rd Dai Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin TUS has composed a ‘Munajaat’ – a qasida in supplication and prayer to Allah Ta’ala. The 30 verses of the Munajaat encompass the most vital doas for us today expressed in the best tradition of Fatimid adab literature: beautiful aesthetics and deep meaning. The Munajaat is presented on the website with Dawat ni Zaban Fehwa and English translation, along with audio recording. In this Munajaat, Syedna TUS begins by quoting the first line of Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s RA Munajaat from 1381H for barakat, just as Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA quoted the first line of Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s Munajaat from 1370H in his first Munajaat.

In the first bayt of the Munajaat, Syedna TUS draws upon the Munajaat of Musa AS in difficult times. Syedna TUS also draws a reference in the second bayt to the Munajaat of Imam Ali Zainul Aabedeen SA who used to pray 1000 Rak’ats each night. The Imam knew that the rule of the Banu Umayya would last for a thousand months. But by his munajaat and doa, even in those times of difficulty, Allah’s Dawat would remain, the Imam-z-Zamaan would remain. In the third verse, Syedna TUS states that ‘this is a Munajaat of a Dai’ who offers gratitude for the bounty of the rutba of Da’wat bestowed upon him by the 52nd Dai Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA." Taking the wasila of Panjetan, Aimmat and Du’aat in the Munajaat and particularly the wasila of Syedna Taher Saifuddin and Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, Syedna Qutbuddin beseeches the Allah Ta’ala to sanctify (taqdees) the Ruh Mubarak Syedna Burhanuddin in the highest heavens. He beseeches Allah Ta’ala to grant his deep desire to do ziarat of Rozat Tahera “walking on my eyes”.

Among many priceless doa-s, Syedna also prays for those who have gone astray, saying that whoever still has a ‘spark of walaayat’ left in him, may Allah Ta’ala make firm his belief and guide him to the Dai al-Haqq. The wasila’s that Syedna invokes, the doa-s that he beseeches and the simplicity and sincerity in each verse and truly a manifestation of the ta’yeed and fayz of Imam-uz-zamaan. The force and power of prayer is indeed strongest force there is. Also in the tradition of the 51st and 52nd Dais, Syedna Qutbuddin TUS began the authoring of a ‘Risalat Ramadaaniyya’ – An epistle written (or begun) in Ramadaan. Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s over 40 Risaalats are an invaluable resource for students of ‘ilm of Aal-e-Muhammad, with each word having ‘oceans of meaning’ in it.

Syedna Qutbuddin recited the first few lines of the Risaalat in the waaz on the 19th of Ramadaan. The Risalat is entitled ‘Barakaatu Irth al-Du’aat’ (بركات إرث الدعاة) – the Barakaat of the Inheritance of the Du’aat. The numerical value of the title is 1435. The word "irth" which is broadly translated as inheritance refers in the Arabic language more specifically to the inherited heritage and values as opposed to the word viraasat which refers to physical inheritance. It is truly remarkable that in these difficult times, Syedna TUS is guiding Mumineen and inspiring them with such a Munajaat and continuing the flow of the barakaat of the heritage of the Du’aat. We look forward to praying the heartfelt Munajaat on Lailatul Qadar and we look forward to the completion of the Risaalat and offer thanks to Allah Ta’ala for the bounties of the knowledge of Aal-e-Muhammad that are being showered upon us. May Allah Ta’ala grant Maulana Qutbuddin TUS longest life till Qiyaamat and may He answer he include us in his doa-e-mustajaab in Lailatul Qadar.

How can we help?
