A Dai’s Do’a

18 June 2017

'If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come unto thee and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Most Merciful.'

(Surat al-Nisa’: 64)

This article was written by Ra'sul Hududil Mayameen Janab Syedi Aziz Bhaisaheb Qutbuddin in 2017.

In recent sabaqs in Shehrullah, Syedna Taher Fakhruddin TUS emphasized the importance of doa. Syedna TUS recounted that Mohammed ul Baqir Imam SA said that doa after a farizat namaaz is greater in merit than tatawwu’ namaaz (e.g. sunnat, nafilat). Syedna TUS also quoted an anecdote when Ja’far us Sadiq Imam SA was asked which of the actions of two individuals in a masjid is better: the one who spends more time reciting Qur’an Majeed or the one who spends more time beseeching doa? Imam SA replied both are good and meritorious. When pressed for a definitive answer, Imam SA replied that doa is more meritorious. Syedna Fakhruddin TUS emphasized that no Mumin’s doa is unheard. Such is the value of a Mumin’s doa that even if it is in Allah Ta’ala’s hikmat to delay the answer, it will be answered – and if not here in this world, then the answer will be given in the Hereafter.

When a Da’i beseeches doa, that doa is priceless. “Dai” literally means one who does doa. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA often benevolently said in his wasila that “when I beseech doa for you it is not ihsaan, it is my duty.” This doa for us is priceless.

The Qur’an Majeed attests that for those seeking forgiveness, in addition to their own doa, Rasulullah’s SA doa ensures Allah Ta’ala’s forgiveness. We hold firm this belief that Allah Ta’ala’s justice entails that after Rasulullah’s SA zamaan, Mumineen are not denied Rasulullah’s doa. In every day and age, his successor Imam-uz-zaman SA beseeches doa and forgiveness for Mumineen. During the Imam’s seclusion his Dai beseeches doa and forgiveness for Mumineen.

In Shehrullah al-Mo’azzam and especially Lailatul Qadr, Syedna Fakhruddin wholeheartedly and passionately beseeched doa for us Mumineen. In his wasila on Lailatul Qadr, with the utmost humility in supplication, Syedna beseeched doa for all Mumineen in the East and West, all those who answered his Dawat, for all of them Syedna said “I have come to seek rehmat.

Syedna’s wasila echoed the voices of his predecessors. His earnest and sincere supplication is an invaluable blessing for those who earnestly and sincerely receive it (talaqqi karay). If a Mumin’s doa is answered by the wasila of our Awliya’ Kiraam then we can only begin to fathom the impact of Allah’s waliy, Imam-uz-zaman’s Dai, himself, beseeching doa for us. The power of his doa is beyond imagination.

As priceless as Rasullulah’s doa was for Mumineen 1400 years ago, Syedna’s doa is a priceless treasure for Mumineen today. Syedna’s doa ensures forgiveness of our sins and fulfillment of our wishes. For this ne’mat we offer heartfelt shukur. We also offer heartfelt shukur for the bounty of being part of Maulana’s wasila and doa during Lailatul Qadr.

May Allah Ta’ala grant us tawfeeq to receive this priceless doa with gratitude and shukur. May Allah Ta’ala grant Syedna TUS longest life to continue to beseech doa for us Mumineen, for our children and for our children’s children.

How can we help?
