The Urus of Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA - Heavenly Barakaat

25 September 2014

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

يس

(Surat Yaseen: 1)

This article was written by Ra'sul Hududil Mayameen Janab Syedi Aziz Bhaisaheb Qutbuddin in 2014.

"(Surat) Yaseen is the heart of the Quran” (يس قلب القران). According to our belief, the Imam is Quran-e-Naatiq, the speaking, animate, or live, Quran who expounds and explains the deep meanings in the text of the Quran. In the time of the Imam’s seclusion, the Du’at Mutlaqeen are the Surahs of the Quran. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA writes this verse in his qasida praising his father the 51st Dai:

هُمُ سُوَرُ الذِّكْرِ الحَكِيمِ وَمِنْهُمُ * كَيَاسِينِهِمْ هذا المُسَمَّى بِطَاهِرِ

'They – the Du’at – are the Surahs of the Quran (zikr hakeem) – and amongst them (the Duat) is Yaseen – the one named Taher'

All Du’aat Mutlaqeen are the most exalted representatives of the Imams, persons of angelic character, and vessels of divine knowledge. The stature of Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA is, as his successor states in the bayt quoted above, as Yaseen is to the Quran. Syedna Qutbuddin TUS similarly expounded Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s shaan:

چھے قرآن بالكل امامُ الزمان

دعاةُ الستر سورتو في القران

نے طاهر ني سورةِ ياسينَ ني شان

اے سيفِ ديں سروَر هزارو سلام

The term ‘Urus’ we know refers to the day on which a Dai or one of the Hudood Fozola’ passed away. We commemorate the day by praying Quran and gifting the sawaab to the Dai or Mawla who passed away on that day (Khatmul Quran). Literally the word "urus" (or urs) in Arabic refers to a meal in celebration (even used for the celebration of marriage). But why is the day of wafaat referred to as Urs?

تَبَاشَرَتِ المَلاَئِكُ يومَ وَافَى * هُنَاكَ فَصَارَ يُسمَى اليومُ عُرْسَا

In his marsiya remembering the 47th Dai Syedna Abdul Qadir Najmuddin RA, Syedna Taher Saifuddin writes, “There (in heaven) the angels celebrated (his arrival) on the day of his wafaat, it is for this reason that the day is called Urus."

On Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s Urus the mala’ikat continue to celebrate, we continue to remember the blessings of Syedna al-Muqaddas, and continue to pray for his continued nazaraat upon us.

In a bayaan Syedna Taher Saifuddin said:

“Let me relate you a personal matter, my brothers, if death comes to me before the Zuhoor of Imam-uz-zaman, I will go to the Hazrat of Imam-uz-zaman, even then I will strive to alleviate your problems… do not forget me. My brothers, all my life I will endeavor for you, and when death comes, I am certain that my Maula Imam-uz-zaman will be pleased with me. If any Mumin does araz through me, I will surely present his araz to my Maula Imam-uz-zaman: O Maula, I beseech you to alleviate his problems. A Mumin is always in my heart, always remember, I am your true wellwisher, I am your father, my affection towards you is such that only God or my Imam knows…”

Today Syedna Taher Saifuddin's nazaraat continue on us, the true followers of the 52nd Dai Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin’s successor, his ‘most beloved son’ and the most loved name to Syedna Taher Saifuddin: Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin. In him we see the continuity of the deep affection and concern for Mumineen. He is present, so it is as if the 51st and 52nd Dai are present. On one occasion, Syedna Taher Saifuddin said while looking at a photograph of Syedna Qutbuddin: ‘Khuzaima looks like me.’ On another occasion he said while looking at a photograph of himself at a young age, ‘I look like Khuzaima.’

May Allah Ta’ala grant Syedna Qutbuddin long life till Qiyamat.

How can we help?
