The Barakaat of the Heritage of of the Du'at Mutlaqeen: Syedna Qutbuddin’s Risalah Ramadaniyyah

25 September 2014

'Allah Ta’ala said, Musa, I have chosen you above others by the Risalahs' I have given you and the Words I have given you. So take what I have given you and be one of those who give thanks'

(Surat al-A’raaf: 144)

This article was written by Ra'sul Hududil Mayameen Janab Syedi Aziz Bhaisaheb Qutbuddin in 2014.

The Quran states that the two things given to Musa Nabi AS were ‘Risalaat’ and ‘Kalaam’ – Epistles and Words. Our Hudaat have explained to us that the Musa of this dawr is Mohammed Rasulullah SA. Rasulullah’s Du’at Mutlaqeen have composed Risalahs that offer guidance to Mumineen. These Risalahs contain the many meanings of the Quran. In describing the 40+ Risalahs of Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA, his successor the 52nd Dai Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA composed this verse:

رَسَائِلُكَ الْغُرَّانُ فِيهَا تَجَمَّعَتْ فُيُوضُ كِتَابِ اللهِ فِيهَا لَنَا هُدىٰ

In your enlightening Risalah, the fuyooz of the Quran are contained. In them we find guidance. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA continued this tradition and today, his true successor, Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin TUS is continuing that tradition of knowledge and guidance. The Risalah is a manifestation of the Quran’s direction to Rasulullah to, ‘call towards Allah Ta’ala through wisdom and wise counsel’ (Surat al-Nahal:125).

ادْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ

In the midst of the hurricane of events that we are going through, Syedna Qutbuddin TUS began composing his first Risalah Ramadaniyyah. The Risalah is titled ‘Barakaatu ‘irthi-du’aat’, (بركاتُ إرثِ الدُّعاة)– the Barakaat of the Heritage of the Du’aat. The numerical value of the title is 1435H (just as Bismillah is 786 and Ali is 110). Syedna explained that the word irth means wiraasat or heritage. In the Arabic lexicon, irth is defined more particularly as the inheritance of knowledge, while wiraasat is defined as physical inheritance. Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA and Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA repeatedly identified Syedna Qutbuddin as the one whose heart contained their ‘ilm. We are seeing the barakaat of this ‘ilm in Syedna’s waaz, his munajaat, his qasida and in his Risalah. For those with baseerat (the enlightened vision of knowledge) this is the clearest proof that Syedna Qutbuddin TUS is indeed the true successor to the Syedna Taher Saifuddin and Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA. His knowledge, ‘ilm, is the pure knowledge of the Du’aat and his deeds, ‘amal, are the continuation of the pious deeds of the Du’aat Mutlaqeen. Through Syedna, Mumineen are receiving the water of ‘ilm, as water is the source of life in this world, ‘ilm is the source of life in the hereafter. With his guidance, Syedna’s followers are leading a life according to the laws of Shari’at. May Allah Ta’ala grant us the tawfeeq to receive these barakaat and to offer thanks to Him.

In his waaz on the 19th of Ramadaan, Syedna TUS introduced his Risalah, from which he then recited the first few lines, ‘I praise Allah Ta’ala whose Dawat is Dawatul Haqq, and whose word is the word of Truth’. Syedna then explained the meaning of this line; Rasulullah himself was the word of Allah and he spoke the Truth: Rasulullah spoke the Truth when he spoke of Jannat, Jahannam and the Hereafter. Syedna said that we mumineen are those who believe in Rasulullah and his Message, and so we must live our lives in such a way so as to prepare for the Hereafter. Three video excerpts from the 19th waaz (see below for content titles and timings) have been presented on In his waaz on the 19th of Ramadaan, Syedna TUS introduced his Risalah, from which he then recited the first few lines, ‘I praise Allah Ta’ala whose Dawat is Dawatul Haqq, and whose word is the word of Truth’.

Just as Musa Nabi SA was instructed to ‘be among those who give thanks’ (in the ayat quoted above), let us offer thanks to Allah Ta’ala for the ne’mat of this Risalah and this Dai who is guiding us towards the Siraate-Mustaqeen; a Dai who is the embodiment of the wiraasat and heritage of the Du’aat Mutlaqeen. Let us offer thanks to Allah Ta’ala that we are like those who followed Musa Nabi and his brother and successor Haroon – both of whom were the Messengers of God. Let us offer thanks that we are not like those who abandoned Haroon and, instead, followed a hollow golden calf. As the Qur’an describes them: “And after Musa, his people made a [golden] calf from their ornaments, nothing but a body with a lowing [sound of cattle]. Do they not see that it does not speak to them nor does it guide them to the [straight] path. They simply took [the golden calf] as God and they were unjust [in doing so] (Surat al-A’raaf: 148).

May Allah Ta’ala give us the tawfeeq to follow Musa and Haroon, the Musa of our time Mohammed and his Haroon Ali. May He give us the tawfeeq to follow Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA and his brother and waaris Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin TUS. May He also guide to the straight path those who are enamored by the glitter of the golden calf.

How can we help?
