Mohammed Rasulullah & Mohammed Da’i-Allah

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

مُّحَمَّدٌ رَّسُولُ اللَّهِ ۚ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ أَشِدَّاءُ عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ رُحَمَاءُ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ*

'Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; and those who are with him are strong against Unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other.'

(Surat al-Fath: 29)

All Prophets are the rasul, messenger, of Allah Ta’ala. Yet the title Rasulullah is reserved for our Prophet, Mohammed Rasulullah. In the Quranic ayat quoted above Allah Ta’ala identifies our Nabi as ‘Mohammadun Rasulullah’.

When Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA was given haddiyyat by Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA, he was also given, as per the tradition of Da’wat, an ‘alaamat, an ayat from the Qur’an with which he would begin all his correspondence. This was the tradition for all the Shehazadas of the Dai. However, the ayat that Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA assigned to Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA was none other than the ayat quoted above, ‘Mohammedun Rasulullah’. The assignment of this ayat foretold Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s RA vision and the destiny of his eldest son becoming the 52^nd Dai representing the Imam, the successor of Rasulullah, and continuing his mission and message.

It is a coincidence or divine providence that the month of Rasulullah’s SA Milad is also the month of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin’s RA wafaat.

Just as Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA indicated his vision for Syedna Burhanuddin, he similarly indicated his vision for Syedna Qutbuddin by assigning him the alaamat, ‘wama bikum min ne’matin fa minal-laah’, the 53^rd ayat in Surat al-Nahl.

Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin was the living legacy of Mohammed Rasulullah SA, akin to him in name and spirit. Syedna Qutbuddin’s waaz on the occasion of the first Urus of Syedna Burhanuddin RA was a clear manifestation of the continuity of the legacy of Rasulullah SA and Syedna Burhanuddin in him.
