Statement from the Office of Syedna Taher Fakhruddin Saheb regarding news reports of threats and attacks on Justice Gautam Patel.
Statement from Dr. Aziz Bhaisaheb Qutbuddin, brother of Syedna Taher Fakhruddin Saheb and Director of Communications:
We have been informed that Justice Gautam Patel and his family have been threatened and attacked with violence. Syedna Taher Fakhruddin Saheb unequivocally condemns any such threats and violence.
Syedna Taher Fakhruddin Saheb has filed an appeal before the Bombay High Court against the judgment delivered by Justice Gautam Patel in the Dawoodi Bohra succession case. The matter was expedited in December 2024 and is pending final hearing.
If the information published in various reports is accurate (including that the threats against Justice Gautam Patel were intended to pressure him to recant his judgment), then these acts are clearly meant to malign us and attempt to derail the appeal.
