On Tuesday 18th June, the Kafila Mohabbat Ka (The Caravan of Love) event was held at the grand hall of the Sayaji hotel in Indore. Mr. Salim Ansari – a leading Indore-area journalist and prominent social worker – hosted and sponsored the event as a celebration of Eid ul Fitr and to display unity among Indore’s large and diverse Muslim population.

The event commenced at 9pm, with 150-200 people attending the conference. The attendees of the event included prominent Muslim political leaders, professionals, businessmen and leading journalists including Hidayat Khan, Adil Saeed, Tahir Kamal Siddiqui, Satlaj Rahat, Nizam Ali, Rizwan Khan. Also invited were a select group of academics and teachers, who were specially felicitated at the start of the event for their life-long roles in teaching and promoting education at their respective schools, universities and communities.

Shehzada Dr. Husain Bhaisaheb Burhanuddin was invited as the chief guest and key-note speaker for the event (as the official representative of Syedna Taher Fakhruddin Saheb TUS, the 54th Dai of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim Community). He commenced the proceedings with a powerful and heartfelt recitation of Surat Al-Insaan which moved many in the audience to tears.   Shehzada Husain Bhaisaheb then delivered an inspiring and compelling speech about love and empathy.  He emphasized the importance of charitable behaviour towards not just Muslims but, all of humanity regardless of a person’s faith and creed as prescribed in the Qur’an Majeed and Hadith (sayings of Rasulullah SA). He further demonstrated that the Qur’an and Hadith prescribe love and care for not just all of humanity, but all of creation, including the environment. Husain bhaisaheb asserted that in fact, a good moral character is given equal importance in Islam to caring for our environment. He demonstrated these points by reciting and explaining several verses from the Qur’an, including some of the verses which he had recited from Surat al-Insaan (the Qur’anic chapter titled "The Human Being") at the commencement of the program. He also cited several Hadiths.  Shehzada Saheb then detailed some of the efforts made by Syedna Taher Fakhruddin TUS in furthering communal harmony, including his efforts in providing educational scholarships for girls and boys through QJSP, and his hosting of annual conferences of religious leaders as part of the Harmony Conference Series.

Shz Husain Bhaisaheb was very enthusiastically received by the audience, who were deeply impressed by not only Shz Saheb’s recitation of the Quran but also the thought-provoking nature of his speech. Many in the audience waited for a long time after the event to greet him and talk to him.

Shz Husain Bhaisaheb spent a great deal of time interacting with the audience. He also thanked and felicitated the host, Mr. Salim Ansari, and presented him with a book of Shehzadi Professor Bazat Tahera Bensaheba – Light in the Heavens, which contains translations of Hadiths of Rasulullah (SA). All participants at the event were of a single mind that such events and conferences should be regularly held in order to build bridges of understanding and foster co-existence amongst the diverse communities and faiths of India.

Before and after the event, Shehzada Saheb met with several mumineen from the city of Indore and its neighbouring cities.
