"We provide food for you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks.
(Surat al-Insaan: 9)
Our Hudaat Kiraam have established the tradition of niyaaz – offering food for the sake of Allah Ta’ala – by their words and their example. In one such Hadith, Rasulullah SA encourages us to “provide food for others” (at’imut-ta’aam) along with other words of wise counsel. Amirul Mumineen SA provided iftaar jaman for all the residents of Kufa during Shehrullah. Imam Ali Zainul-Aabideen SA instructed that extra food be prepared in his household kitchens. After the people of the household had their meal, Imam AS would personally take the extra food and distribute it amongst the less privileged in Madina. A’immat Tahereen and, in their seclusion, Du’aat Mutlaqeen continued this tradition.
Niyaaz is a tradition that brings together Mumineen on every miqaat, especially Ashara and Shehrullah. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA invited Mumineen all over the world for niyaaz jaman on the 19th of Shehrullah and the 8th of Muharram. Throughout his 50 years as Syedna Burhanuddin’s Mazoon and Mansoos, Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin RA invited Mumineen for niyaaz jaman wherever he went for Ashara Mubaraka. Through Zahra Hasanaat, Syedna Qutbuddin also provided iftaar jaman in Shehrullah for thousands of Mumineen in less privileged areas year after year. Unbeknownst to most, on a regular basis for many years on every Miqaat and every happy occasion there were thaals prepared on Syedna Qutbuddin’s behalf at a Mumin bhai’s residence. On every miqaat people coming out of Rozat Tahera were randomly invited for the jaman.
It is also a tradition that niyaaz jaman is hosted at every Mazaar. At Mazaar-e-Qutbi, Syedna Taher Fakhruddin TUS has initiated Mazaar-e-Qutbi Niyaaz near Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin RA’s Roza in Darus Sakina with the niyat of giving the barakat of Syedna Qutbuddin to all ibaadullah – all of God’s children. Every day lunch is served to whosoever wishes to enter and eat there. The niyaaz jaman is healthy and wholesome vegetarian food in order to accommodate all persons of various religious and cultural backgrounds.
The first niyaaz jaman at Mazaar-e-Qutbi was on the Urus Mubarak of Syedna Hatim RA, the 16th of Muharram 1439H. In the last 35 days more than 3500 people from all walks of life have taken this barakat. By the Grace of Allah Ta’ala people who come are happy and leave satisfied. Daily Mumineen come and perform the niyaaz khidmat.
May Allah grant Syedna Fakhruddin TUS long life till Qiyamat and may this noble initiative flourish under him with the niyyat to feed all those who come to Syedna Qutbuddin’s Roza.
Timings are between 11.30am to 3pm. Venue: Next to Darus Sakina.
On 16th Moharram 1439H (6th October 2017), Syedna Taher Fakhruddin TUS inaugurated the Mazaar-e-Qutbi Niyaaz Jaman in the saya of Roza of Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin Saheb RA, inviting people of all faiths and creeds for Niyaaz with the niyat that everyone receives the barakaat of Syedna Qutbuddin RA. It is always in the memory of all Mumineen that whenever they would come for blessings to Syedna Qutbuddin to his home he would invite them “Jaman Jami ne jaajo” for food before they left his hazrat. Today his successor Syedna Fakhruddin Saheb invites all who come to his Roza for Niyaaz. Everyday hot wholesome vegetarian lunch of dal, rice and a sweet dish is served from 12pm to 2pm. Daily more than 70kgs of rice, 44 kgs of dal and 8 kgs of a sweet dish are prepared. Everyday more than 150 people from all religions and economic backgrounds including industrial workers, construction laborers and children partake in the Niyaaz jaman. There are two full-time staff who manage the operations of the Niyaaz.
Mumineen participate in the khidmat of niyaaz and also contribute regularly to join in the sawaab of Mazaar-e-Qutbi Niyaaz. If you would like to participate, click contribute below.
