Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) performed his last Ashara Mubarak in 1385H in Karachi, Pakistan. At the culmination of this historic safar, at the time of wada, he delivered a waaz mubarak in which he did zikar of the many challenges he has faced for the sake of the Dawat of Imam uz Zaman during his 52 years as Dai Mutlaq. He said that these years have been blessed with uncountable ne’mats even though many many enemies stood against the Dawat. He then recited the following bayt from a qasida that he had composed in shaan of A’immat Tahereen:
وقد كان طــــــول الدهر في كل شدة
مع العسر لي يسر مع العسر لي يسر
“Indeed, for me during (my) whole life in every adversity, with difficulty there has been ease, with difficulty there has been ease.”
(In this bayt, Syedna Taher Saifuddin repeats the last sentence emulating the 5th and 6th aya mubaraka of Surat Alam Nashrah: “Inna ma’al usre yusran, inna ma’al usre yusra.”)
In an unprecedented action, after reciting this bayt, Syedna Taher Saifuddin pointed towards his beloved Shehzada Syedna Qutbuddin and indicated to him that he should repeat the recitation of the bayt in the waaz. Following the farmaan of the 51st Dai Mutlaq, who used to say in his waaz that, “I can see much farther than you while sitting on this takht of Imam uz Zaman,” Syedna Qutbuddin recited the bayt.
Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s relating of the many hardships that he experienced in his lifetime, which were eased by the ever-present ne’mats and blessings of Allah Taʿala and his Imam, and his extraordinary farmaan to Syedna Qutbuddin to repeat the bayt that he recited in this context, has profound significance. It was a peshingoi (prediction/forseeing) of the extraordinary life in the khidmat of Dawat, Dai and Imam uz Zaman that he foresaw for his beloved Shehzada: it will be a life with many challenges, but always graced with the bountiful ne’mats of Allah and his Wali.
During the 50 illustrious years of Muqaddas Mola Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (RA), despite the many hardships resulting from the campaigns of influential but nefarious people to defame and malign Syedna Qutbuddin, the joyful blessings and ne’mats of Mola Burhanuddin were abundantly flowing towards him. He was anointed the Mazoon-e-Dawat, the “yadd (hand) and yameen (right side)” of Aqa Burhanuddin, as well as his Mansoos, towards whom the choicest parts of the fuyuz of Aqa Burhanuddin flowed. Burhanuddin Mola used to say in his waaz that, “my nazaraat and barakaat reach all mumineen, but the highest amongst them (i.e. the Mazoon-e-Dawat), receives the greatest proportion.”
Today, Syedna Qutbuddin has succeeded Syedna Burhanuddin as the Dai Mutlaq of Imam uz Zaman. He is the destination for the fuyuz of Imam uz Zaman. Despite the many hardships, the tayeed and barakaat of Imam uz Zaman, and the heavenly gazes of Syedna Taher Saifuddin and Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, reach Syedna Qutbuddin in abundance, by which there is ever-present yusr and ne’mat. “Wa in taʿuddu neʿmatallahe la tuhsuha” (“If you count the blessings of Allah, you will not be able to number them,” Surat al-Nahl, ayat 18). It is referring to such ne’mats that Syedna Taher Saifuddin bestowed the 53rd verse of Surat al-Nahl to Syedna Qutbuddin upon his haddiyyat: “Wa ma bikum min ne’matin fa minallah” (“There is no blessing upon you but it is from Allah,” Surat al-Nahl, ayat 53).
Indeed, those who adhere to the daaman of Syedna Qutbuddin today will receive the heavenly barakaat of Imam uz Zaman, Syedna Taher Saifuddin and Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin. Despite the many hardships we may face in our life, the doa, ne’mats, hidayat and guidance of Dai Zaman will ensure saʿadat and happiness in both the life of this world and the hereafter. By answering the Dawat of Syedna Qutbuddin, we will journey to the zumra of Imam uz Zaman, and for eternity, will be able stay in the saya of Syedna Taher Saifuddin and Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin.
May Allah Taʿala grant Syedna Qutbuddin and the Dawat of Imam uz Zaman the ne’mat uzma of fateh mubin, and may He keep the saya mubarak of Dai Zaman upon us till the day of Qiyamat. Ameen.
Transcript of Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s wa’az mubarak:
Tame sagla mara Mola [Imam uz Zaman] na saath chho to Khuda na saath chho. Khuda tamara saath chhe.
[Syedna Taher Saifuddin at this moment pointed towards his beloved Shehzada Syedna Khuzaima Qutbuddin and asked him to repeat the bayt that he had just recited]
(Syedna Qutbuddin repeats the bayt)
(Since) you are all with my Mola (Imam uz Zaman), you are with Khuda, (and) Khuda is with you. (I), the Servant of Aale Mohammed, 52 years have passed (me by) on the throne of Dawat, in doing the khidmat of Imam uz Zaman. (These years have been) of great happiness. Enemies stood up many times (against us during these years).
“Indeed, for me during (my) whole life in every difficulty * There have been joyful blessings (in spite of) the hardship, There have been joyful blessings (in spite of) the hardship”
Throughout (my) period – 52 years have gone, and 50 years (have passed) since I wrote the qasida (in which the above-recited verse occurs) – there have been joyful blessings with hardship. In the Qur’an Khuda has told Rasulullah: “Verily, with hardship are joyful blessings, with hardship are joyful blessings.” So in this way, (difficulties) were eased; with whose barakat?! With the barakat of Imam uz Zaman! With the barakat of the son of Rasulullah!
